I'll start this out by saying Fast Food has become too fancy. Not that I'm complaining. I very much enjoy modern fast food compared to earlier in my life. If you go back and take a look at old ads for fast food, it looks like modern day TV dinners. Although the McDLT was way ahead of its time and such a great idea. But the primary culprit for fancifying our fast food is McDonalds. They have even incorporated something called McCafe where they sell baked goods and coffee. What is this!? I just want some chicken McNuggets! I'll admit, it's been a while since I've stepped foot inside of an actual McDonalds since I've discovered DoorDash. Getting your food brought to your house is so convenient! And it actually takes less time which is great when the wife and kids are cranky and hungry. With this upgrade to a fancier type of establishment has come an increase in prices. I just purchased two Happy Meals for my children since they never eat an actual dinner that I prepare. What was the final cost? About twenty dollars. Twenty dollars for a 12 chicken nuggets, two small fries, apples slices, two milks and a toy made in a sweatshop in China. Also, the toy has already been forgotten by the kids so all of that forced labor has gone to waste. Speaking of which, the toys have become mostly complete garbage. The past two times my children received a small plush character from a movie that is rated above their age. Now McDonalds does have an app where you can gain points for free stuff and I have redeemed multiple free Happy Meals so I can't be too harsh on the company. As for me, I try not to eat McDonalds since it's fancy crap. Especially since a new chicken place opened here in town. They're actually more expensive than McDonalds but the food is excellent and you receive large portions. I haven't been to Wendy's in a while, especially since they eliminated their wonderful chicken strips, but from what I've seen in their ads, their offerings are just as fancy as McDonalds. When I go to Wendy's I don't want to stare at a menu as confusing as Starbucks. I just want my Baconator sandwich to clog my arteries. By the way, whoever came up with bacon on a burger is both a genius and a killer. Burger King has pretty much stayed the same, and the closest one to my house is complete crap; the parking lot is always empty and the reviews are not great on Yelp or Google Reviews. So I guess I can't fairly judge their food. Even Dominos has increased their offerings to include sandwiches and dinner plates. When I think of Dominos my mind always goes to baked ziti or chicken sandwiches....that's sarcasm for those who are slightly autistic. Finally, I have saved the best for last. And it's only because of their biscuits. KFC. I love KFC. It's chicken is delicious and even though they have taken the potato wedges and subbed in standard fries, it still get my vote for one of the best fast food offerings. It might be tied with Chik-fil-a but the biscuits put KFC over the top. Unfortunately in my state, the lovely state of Connecticut, we don't have a large variety of fast food. Recently more brands have moved in, including a Raising Canes (still waiting for you Bojangles) but not many within my immediate area. Which is okay with me since we have so many independent places to choose from that make delicious food. So pull on up to the drive thru, order your caramel frappe with whipped cream, prime rib with a kona coffee rub and lobster tail and enjoy!
